Decaf drinkers your time has come. In over 25 years in the coffee business I've noticed more interest in decaf but what I've also seen is more and more cheap coffees being sent for decaffeination. It costs a little over $1.50/lb to decaffeinate, when you figure freight in and out bound, so expect to pay close to $2/lb more for decaf over regular coffees. If you can buy decaf at the same price as other coffees then the roaster is using cheaper beans for his/her decaf. Not so here. When you can expect 30 or so cups to the pound it's only a nickel or so a cup more when your per pound price is $2 more than regular coffee. This particular blend consists of a Papua New Guinea, Sigri platation, an El Salvador SHG and a Panama SHB. We decided to roast this a shade lighter than we normally roast our decaf and found brown sugar and a plum sweetness. We'd love to hear your feedback. Enjoy!
